Cosmetic Product Registration UK

Overview

The United Kingdom has now officially exited the EU, this exit initiated a migration period which ended on the 31st of December 2020. This means after this time EU regulation 1223/2009 on cosmetic products will no longer be in force in the UK.

What does this mean?

  • Manufacturers and Importers will not be able to place their cosmetic products in the UK market without a Responsible Person (RP) based in the UK being appointed.

  • SCPN Notification - All cosmetic products placed on the UK market to sell must be notified on the UK cosmetic notification platform (SCPN). Separate EU (CPNP) & UK notifications are required.

  • Product Labelling to comply with the UK regulations which is to include the country of origin (If not the UK) and the Responsible Person (RP) details.

  • Product Information File (PIF) File is the be held in the UK by the responsible person. This file is to be kept for 10 years after the last batch was made.

Here at KCS Cosmetics we support you as the brand, importer or manufacturer by reviewing your existing documentation, preparing Cosmetic Safety Reports, compiling and storing PIF File (s) and reviewing and revising product labels. This is to ensure your products are compliant, with us acting as your RP in the UK.
